- Here it is July 3rd. When I wrote this piece, I had hoped I would get a chance to go in to hear another day of the proceedings. I had expected them to be over within a week or at most two. Today, I...

A Drupal framework for interoperating with Second Life objects started by ahynes1
Well, it had been a hard day. An important deal feel through and I was depressed. I couldn’t focus, so I did what any hard-core geek would do. I took a nap, and then I did a bit of recreational programming. Now that I’ve set up a shop in Second Life, I have an interesting place to test out my scripts, and my focus for today was data sharing between Second Life and external sites.

#followfriday Part 2. started by ahynes1
@jillmz, @sheilamc7, @jcnork Since I just put up a #followfriday post earlier today, I’ll skip the explanation. Read that post of you wonder what this is all about. @jillmz has been visiting Woodbridge and we’ve been talking about getting together for dinner, coffee, or something like that. Jill and I met online when I started blogging about the
#digiday Arbitraging Advertising Exchanges started by ahynes1
Today, I viewed yet another digiday conference from of a small content provider, or publisher, a participant in various blogger advertising networks, an advisor to politicians considering media buys, and an old Wall Street techie. It is from this vantage point that I wish to offer a few out of the box ideas.
Inside Connecticut Democratic Politics started by ahynes1
The Democratic State Central Committee in Connecticut is scheduled to meet on January 19th, 2005 to elect new officers. George Jepsen is currently the state chair. He has served well, and served as majority leader of the State Senate from my hometown of Stamford.

@pistachio, @gruen, @geechee_girl Do you know what #followfriday is? Do you know why I put a pound sign or hashmark in front of #followfriday? Do you know who @pistachio, @gruen, @geechee_girl are? Do you know why there is an at-sign at the beginning of their usernames? Do you know how I am getting this message to show up on Twitter and Facebook

#engageexpo Day 2 Recap – Interactive Sense Making started by ahynes1
I spent much of the second day at Engage! Expo like I did at the first; taking notes and tweeting during the sessions then heading back to the press and speakers room during the breaks to recharge my batteries and compare notes with friends. In many ways, it was an interactive way of making sense of the conference, which seems somehow appropriate,

#FRFF – Amy Speace, Girlyman, and Eric Lowen started by ahynes1
This evening I discovered that Amy Speace will be playing at Café Nine in New Haven next Tuesday. Last year, she was one of the 2008 Falcon Ridge Emerging Artists. I liked what I heard of her online before I went and then enjoyed her performance at Falcon Ridge. I wasn’t surprised when she ended up getting the most votes to be asked to return this
Identi.ca, OpenID and XRI started by ahynes1
Recently, there has been an interesting question about user nomenclature in federated micro blogging systems. By micro blogging systems, I’m talking about sites like Twitter, Plurk, Rejaw, and Identi.ca. Right now, Identi.ca is the only one that truly supports the ability to subscribe to be subscribed from other micro blogging systems, although there

Bernie and Me started by ahynes1
This morning, I turned off the radio’s morning news program as I drove my daughter to summer camp. I’ve heard enough about Bernie Madoff. It was time to talk with my daughter. Off to the left a man was mowing part of the town golf course. The town bought the golf course earlier this year when it went into bankruptcy and has been doing a great job

Blogger’s Notebook started by ahynes1
Each day, I get hundreds of emails and even more messages on various social networks. Sometimes they are from friends highlighting one new site or another. Others are from public relations professionals hoping that I’ll write something nice about their latest clients. Sometimes there are blog posts that catch my attention that should be highlighted.
7th Tir, Health Care and the Citizens Election Program started by ahynes1
Today is the 7th Tir in Iran. It is a day of remembering the death of Ayatollah Dr. Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini Beheshti, who was killed on this day in 1981. Today, there will be a demonstration at Tehran’s Ghoba mosque to honor Ayatollah Beheshti. At least that is ostensibly who the demonstration will be honoring, but many people there may be honoring
Turning Fifty started by ahynes1
On July 9th, I will turn fifty years old and it is a big deal for me. My forties were rough and I’m hoping that my fifties will be better. I never really had a big birthday bash, and although my wife is struggling with physical difficulties, she is organizing a fiftieth birthday bash for me. Sometime around my fiftieth birthday, I will send my 5,000th

The Orkut Virus and Scripts started by ahynes1
Last night, I received five scrapbook entries on Orkut saying, “2008 vem ai... que ele comece mto bem para vc”. I’m not sure what that means, if anything, and it surely isn’t something my five friends would have sent me, especially not all at the same time. So I did a little digging. It appears as if a script hit Orkut last night. The details
