Orient Lodge: Google Wave Federation Update

Either you are doing some extremely complicated things with Google Wave (which I have not yet been invited to use), or it is a long, long, long way from being ready to go public.

I've been doing things way more complicated than the average user of Google Wave. For most people they go to the google wave site, use they account they've been given, if they are lucky enough to have been given an account and start exploring wave.

What I am doing is very different. Google makes it possible for anyone to set up their own wave servers. So, I've set up my own wave server. They also make it possible for wave servers to connect with other wave servers. So, of late, I've been working connecting my test server to other people's test servers.

With that, I have a test server that I can give anyone accounts to. However, the user interface is very primitive. There are other wave servers that anyone can set out, also with very primitive interfaces, but ti gives a hint at some of the things that may be coming down the pike.

I'll post another post about this later.

I usually work with web-based applications like http://www.showdocument.com
I use it for sharing my designs and documents with partners and clients,
but i guess it can used for other purposes too. If you're looking for a free solution you should check it out.

Nice, I'm trying to get on a Federated Wave via Pygowave.net, but so far, it didn't really work out...

    Hi Aldon,

I am testing your Wave server, which seems to work very well. I am collecting results in a public wave titled "First test of federated FedOne Wave Server" with tags wave federation server fedone orient-lodge.

I am giulio on both wavesandbox.com and googlewave.com

Would like to find a few non-sandbox servers to test with. I am running a FedOne server as well and am not successfully connecting to the sandbox. I have StartSSL and the sessions are showing up in Openfire but they do not show up in the dev sandbox. Really frustrating but it is working locally and appears from my end that it is federating. Wondering if I can try and connect a wave with your instance.

BTW - it is worth a look at the new version of StatusNet. I run an instance too and love the new builds. Themes, attachments, FB Connect, Google Analytics...the list keeps going on and on. I like that there is now recapticha too.

    Thanks - Lou
